A Room Of Their Own

A Place To Call Home

A Sense Of Community

Helping Homeless Women With Mental Health Challenges Rebuild Their Lives;  Welcome to St. Clare Inn, located in Toronto!

Find Care & Comfort

Women find care and comfort off the street.  They find a place to call home for up to a year; their own bedroom and a shared space that feels like a real home.  St. Clare Inn is a place where they live with others struggling with similar issues but in the presence of female support workers who can provide assistance and guidance.

Linda's Walk 2016

Another big success!  Thank you to all who came out to walk this past Saturday, August 13th, in support of St. Clare Inn.    You braved the extreme heat and the threat of rain to help us raise both funds and awareness of homeless women with mental health issues.  Thank you as well to those who could not make it to the Walk but who supported us in other ways with their pledges and prayers.  We managed to raise $42,550 this year, which was a real feat.  Thank you!  We hope you will join us again next year.

Relearn Life Skills

Residents open a bank account, save money, learn to create a balanced and healthy meal, paint/create, exercise, work/volunteer and manage their own mental health appointments.

Thank you to all who joined us for "An Evening in Paris" this past weekend.  The night was full of excitement while our guests enjoyed the musical stylings of our accordian player and student performers, the slight of hand of our magician, and the insights of our handwriting analysis expert.  Michelle Dubé steered 200 people through the ins and outs of our affair and together we managed to raise over $36,000 and counting for St. Clare Inn.  It was truly a fabulous group effort and the women who benefit from their stay at St. Clare Inn are very grateful to all. Thank You!

Our Mission

St. Clare Inn provides community, care and shelter for homeless women with mental health issues along with support for their healing journey.

Our Vision

St. Clare Inn will provide a network of nurturing places where women will successfully transition to the broader society, through a community model of supportive care.

St. Clare Inn offers accommodation and support to women between the ages of 30 and 60, who are homeless and struggling with mental health challenges. St. Clare Inn is not a shelter; it is a transitional home and a place where women can live with dignity while rebuilding their lives. Within this safe, drug and alcohol free environment where respect, peace, safety, and dignity are key values, women can begin to heal and start to build a better future.

Since 2007, St. Clare Inn, has given many women a second chance; an opportunity to bring meaning back into their lives and regain independence. Inspired by the death of Linda—a homeless middle-aged woman who was often seen on the streets in Don Mills—St. Clare Inn is dedicated to providing women with an alternative to living on the streets. An option that Linda never had.

Linda's death drew attention to the plight of women who struggle daily, living alone on the streets with mental health illness. Her death was the catalyst for the creation of St. Clare Inn. Located in Toronto, the Inn is a registered charity established by the Friends of Saint Francis Inc., a group of professional lay men and women and Franciscan Friars.
